These improvements can be seen in many ways, but the most glaring example is history. The prototype of the story was just a backdrop to the events on screen, which is largely due to its way of portraying it - narrative virtually non-existent, and after a few hours of unrestrained battle we've basically forgotten what exactly branches forward. In the "claw" this problem is completely eliminated. The tasks of the bulletin board went almost underground, most of the missions you from NPCs, who always spend a moment to introduce the necessary details, saving us the same reading a dry text.
The makers have made better use of the same principles.
