Ghostbusters is intended primarily for movie fans. They will appreciate the references to the prototypes, they will be amused by the characteristic wit of Dr. Venkman, or the para-scientific arguments of Spangler and Stenz. The script was written by Ramis with Aykroyd (the authors of the scripts for both films) and it feels like it. The game with the atmosphere perfectly reflects the humor of Ghostbusters, and the story, in my opinion, is much better than the one from the second part and can easily compete with the one. Especially since it's about Gozer again and the cult associated with him, which apparently wants to turn New York into a playground for supernatural creatures again.
Whether Ghostbusters will appeal to younger players for whom the charm of Ghostbusters doesn't matter that much, it's hard to say. It's a great shooter (more on that in a moment), but it has a slightly different pace, a differently constructed combat system, and a completely different atmosphere.
Gameplay In Ghostbusters, as is easy to guess, you have to catch ghosts. The game is a linear shooter in which you cannot get lost, but there is always something going on. At one point, we examine the environment in the company of other Slayers, using a very sensibly designed PKE (Psycho-Kinetic Energy) scanner - the device works mainly in FPP mode, allowing you to easily track ghosts and other supernatural objects, and then catalog them, discovering, for example, the weaknesses of a given opponent. A moment later, everything changes - a screaming apparition pops around the corner, candelabra come to life, and books are turned into a giant golem. A fight begins, during which you can still hear the Slayers' cutting comments, the air is cut by streams of plasma fired from proton backpacks, and the surroundings literally explode with pieces of destroyed decorations and furniture.
