Pollen for PC Download At their heart, adventure games are about providing a narrative. They are mechanically simple. At their most complex, they offer puzzles that give the player an agency in the world, and slow down their progression, making them not only blast through the narrative content. This means that in order to be successful, adventure games have to perform exactly on the few attributes that they offer. There is not anywhere for developers to hide weakness or inexperience.

Pollen Download Pollen tells the story of a nameless protagonist sent to Saturn’s moon, Titan, to investigate a corporate-controlled research study, the so-called “The Entity”. The game opens with you sitting in a dark room on a retro futuristic computer terminal. A robot voice asks you to answer a series of personality test questions, each answer leading a further set of pips to a hole map generated by the computer. The scene rapidly rationalizes the company, Rama Industries, so large and powerful enough to ask completely unreasonable things of his employees, the requests dressed as gifts or favors to the “happy” employees.
The introduction then goes into the interior of a lander craft on approaching Titan. The voice of a Rama Industries representative from the HQ, who is reciting a well thought-out game in which the mission is described, comes from the counter-intercom system. Their tone artificially jovial, contrary to the dangerous activity of intoxication on the ground. After a successful landing, go to a nearby comms array to make contact with the ground team, which seem surprised by the arrival. When they begin to explain why, the voice of the Rama representative returns and drowns the details with alien mission parameters. Immediately you are taught that something is wrong on the Titanium, and this ominous obscuration of the details makes you aware that Rama would prefer to stay in the dark.

Pollens’s atmospheric introduction sets the tone nicely for the rest of the game, but what follows follows to not do justice to his example. From there, you are asked to research, investigate and uncover what is really happening. All exposures are delivered via audio logs, tape tapes throughout the environment. Audio logs are a tired repository method, which in this case becomes even more frustrating by forcing the player to stand still next to immobile cassette players to hear them.
