Baldur's Gate Siege of Dragonspear Siege of Dragonspear is a major expansion of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition - a refreshed version of the legendary isometric RPG, released on the PC platform in Windows 2012. This production, originally known under the codename Y Adventure, is a link between the first and second parts of the Baldur's Gate series and offers approx. 25 hours of fun. As in the previous games of the series discussed in the extended editions, the title in the Windows version on the PC platform was created by the Overhaul Games studio, which is a branch of the developer beamdog. The story addition is directly connected to the Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II tells the stories, but we're opposed to expanding the new threat. After killing Sarevok (the main antagonist of the first part), the world was theoretically saved from destruction by the evil child of god Bhaal, but in the siege of Dragonspear it quickly becomes clear that the joy was premature. From the North comes because of a sinister crusade led by a mysterious and charismatic warrior known as the Shining Lady (ang. Shining Lady). It's rumored to be how our hero wielded it, Bhaalspawn. The player must move to meet them after building along with the armed expedition from Baldur's Gate to the ruins of the castle titular Dragonspear, on the site of the Nine Hells that once led a demonic invasion of the Sword Coast...

In a big, no-joke: Siege of Dragonspear tells the story of a crusade led by the mysterious Shining Lady. It is wreaking havoc on the entire Sword Coast, and hundreds of thousands of warriors and refugees flood Baldur's Gate and other nearby towns. To make matters worse, Cealar Argent (that is the name of our opponent) is said to be a descendant of Bhaal. In this situation, we must stop the celebration of victory over Sarevok and hit the road again as the Hero or Hero of Baldur's Gate.
The story, while not very original, is actually quite engaging. It's a classic, umber-style tale: a bit of exploration, a lot of combat, and quite a lot of chatter. It is worth not to succumb to the temptation to be rude ("you must be kidding by telling the protagonist of Baldur's Gate to play the courier") and humbly accept the side orders. Many of them have a second, interesting storyline, which shows that in terms of the script, the authors did their job quite well. Bracketing the uneven level of dialogue - some sound too contemporary - the writing of Siege of Dragonspear is fine and may appeal to fans of the classics.
Our most faithful friends accompany us in the adventure - both from the original and the Enchanced Edition. I've been having fun before being able to clean the dungeons again to Minsca's screams, and even Jaheira's whining doesn't sound so bad years later. Fortunately, the plots of familiar characters have been expanded in an interesting and reliable way compared to the originals. New comrades also keep the level; such Captain Corwin would have liked to have been on my team eighteen years ago. Also, the new maps are kept in an appropriate climate and populated with well-known non-gentlemen.
The primary problem with Siege of Dragonspear is that Baldur himself has, unfortunately, aged poorly. When creating the add-on, the Beamdog had to temporarily disable the self-preservation instinct for retro. Excessively complicated character development, non-transparent combat system, binary, static dialogues, minimal interaction between characters by today's standards - this is just the tip of the mountain of archaism, with which the creators did not try to do anything. In the case of the refreshed editions, I could understand the reluctance to interfere with the original, but the standalone expansion was the perfect opportunity to add something from yourself.
