Tyranny It's been a long time coming but finally here is my final review of Tyranny after completing the very long game. You can read my thoughts about halfway through here, and I'd say I've changed my mind about very little other than having a greater respect for where the story is heading. Here is wot i think. Tyranny Download for PC The balance of combat to story in any RPG is, I would argue, what decides its subcategorization. Mostly combat and it's a tactical RPG, mostly story and it's a "traditional RPG". Complicated battles and it's a strategic RPG, direct control and it's an action RPG. And so forth. Based on this combat logic, Tyranny is a really annoying RPG. Which is a shame than what's a decent if shallow game buried beneath its raging pile of tedious battles.

There's no doubt in my mind that Tyranny is a game that had no idea what it was going to be like during its development. Preview events told us a few hours to be repeated over and over to explore all possible avenues, primarily through the binary choices made in the game's opening conquest. The pace at which it tries to do everything that traditional RPGs do - how to enter a wide party that consists of present companions, a bevy of sidequests, options to be good, evil or something in between, a unique magic system, skill Trees and leveling - implies it's in a tremendous rush before then stretching to easily 50 hours if you play meticulously. Much was made prior to the release of a countdown timer that you had to complete large story tasks within a certain amount of time, but this proves undeniable (I had six days out of eight left on the clock despite every side quest and wasn't making any effort to to get my travels), and amazingly will then leave for the rest of the game. And of course it's a game about a baddie, and while it allows you to do that, it seems incomprehensibly desperate to make sure you can be beautiful too. Tyranny, what did you want to be?

Additional information

Tyranny tries to show what it's like when evil wins. Sometimes, however, it is forgotten and served instead of more classic, not entirely fitting to the convention story plots. It is primarily a collection of ideas and solutions to improve the gameplay known from Pillars of Eternity. This time we fight with smaller groups of enemies to make the whole thing run smoother and more dynamically. The main character can even perform team attacks with his companions, which are difficult to deny spectacularity.

Tyranny One of the most important novelties is the magic system that allows you to combine runes to create various, interesting effects. Everyone can cast a spell in Tyranny - even warriors can cast a few spells, so it's worth learning them to heal themselves or raise their stats. Combining on an arsenal of spells is a lot of fun and is a definite step up from the Pillars of Eternity spells. The character development system has also changed significantly. The new Obsidian game no longer looks like a clone of Dungeons & Dragons-based games, rather reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls series. Heroes improve their skills simply by using them, and the experience they gain is only used to increase one of the six attributes and unlock talents. Tyranny tries to give us new abilities at every turn to make sure that we have what to do in combat.

Tyranny Unfortunately, this wealth cannot mask the stupidity of artificial intelligence, both on the side of the player and computer opponents. Obsidian successfully eliminated the tactical element of the clashes we saw in Pillars of Eternity - the enemy is no longer trying to hunt down our weak, poorly armored mages. This double-sided incompetence makes the skirmishes visibly boring, and with time it makes us only observe the clash without interfering with its course. After properly configuring the spells and choosing the equipment, the team is able to deal with opponents on its own, without requiring any control from us.
