Wolfenstein The Old Blood for me was the biggest and best surprise of the last year. The entire course doesn't go as planned, and before long we're being drawn into thicker scandal associated with excavations, secret artifacts and again, ever-popular Nazi zombies. It's good fun - just the quintessential action movies of the '90s the game shifted. Unfortunately, there is also a problem - the old blood focuses very heavily on Blazkowiczu and almost completely ignores what made the new order a unique game - the secondary characters. The new order is praised so much, because despite the madness shown all related to the story, and more importantly the form "shooting in an alternative history version of the Nazis", they are very heavily saturated with human tragedy. The whole thing was conducted in a way that in a relatively short time with the typical of this genre "freeing the world from the yoke of the bad" to get us to go to the very personal struggle of the people. That little bit of me running in The Old blood, I was a little different hoping for something. Luckily the game is very well written and more importantly, making her happy makes it easy to forgive her for this "shortcoming".
Gameplay hasn't changed much from the base which is a plus overall because they don't fix anything that isn't broken. As I mentioned at the beginning, we are dealing here with gameplay of the old way of combining shooters with the ideas to create the products that appeared on the market in recent years. Wolfenstein The Old Blood is nothing more than a standalone expansion pack to the base game, released a year earlier. The events presented in "Old Blood" directly precede those from The New Order, so we are dealing with a prequel. The action takes place in 1946, when the Nazis are on the verge of winning World War II, and we are in the shoes of B.J. Blazkowicz, we have to sneak into the guarded Wolfenstein Castle in order to collect important data on the location of the so-called Deadhead.
The campaign is divided into two main stages. In the first one, we sneak in the prison, and then comb the grounds of the huge Wolfenstein fortress, the second one presents the town of Wulfburg, where the archaeological excavations of a mad gentleman lead to the release of ancient evil forces, which, of course, we must defeat.
Wolfenstein The Old Blood As I mentioned earlier, this mini-campaign is CLASSIC with capital K. It is a tribute to games created in the 90s, as well as fans of old school gameplay, which required collecting first aid kits and ammunition during dynamic skirmishes.
Starting from the scattered loot that should be picked up, to almost 100% gameplay, without unnecessary cutscenes and actions straight from the Hollywood label.
At the same time, the production keeps the high-budget level from the beginning to the end, not letting go of the tone even for a moment and forgetting us that it is ordinary DLC. It's not just the fact of how long you have to spend with the heading to see the credits (plus a great song). In the background of a simple story aspect, we will find smooth transitions between interesting tasks, scenes straight from a nightmare, exciting clashes and atmospheric stealth sections.
Depending on the order in which you play it, the new blood will surely meet the expectations of the basic version, or complement it with great themes that were not featured in the Machine Games studio hit.
