Apex Legends is an FPP online shooter set in the futuristic universe of the Titanfall series. The production is a spin-off (it was created after the third part of the cycle was deleted) and belongs to the Battle Royale subgenre represented by titles like Playerunknown's Battlegrounds, Fortnite: Battle Royale or Dying Light: Bad Blood. However, this game brings some of its own ideas to this convention. The well-known studio of Respawn Entertainment is responsible for its creation, and the publisher is Electronic Arts. Apex Legends doesn't have a full storyline, however, the game is set in the pre-existing sci-fi universe with a specific story and atmosphere. Until recently, the Titanfall world was at war between two factions - a powerful consortium of corporations and the rebellious denizens of the planets that used them. The conflict ended, but with the advent of peace, the border areas where the fighting took place were abandoned in a state of utter destruction. Its inhabitants again tried to build a civilization, and one of the manifestations of their culture became the Apex Games - a brutal competition in which groups of daredevils fight to the death.
Apex Legends Download for PC In Apex Legends we play the role in these clashes - futuristic gladiators. Unlike many other battle royale games, in Apex Legends we don't control an unnamed character, but rather a specific hero (the Legend title) who has his own story and goals. Among the available heroes you will find, among others, Wraith - a warrior suffering from amnesia and able to manipulate space-time, or Caustica - a scientist and hunter specialized in the use of war gases. Apex Legends is a first-hand battle royale shooter. A maximum of 60 players can take part in the clashes, which are divided into 20 teams of three. Each game starts the same way - from landing on the board to finding weapons (we can find shotguns, rifles, snipers and machine guns here, among others). It is worth noting that the best equipment can be found on mobile supply ships - landing on one of these ships can give us a significant advantage over the competition. The battle continues until more than one team fights on a gradually shrinking map. The production of the Respawn Entertainment studio enriches the battle royale formula with ideas derived from the so-called hero shooter. Each of the player-controlled heroes has a set of specific abilities that make them extremely dangerous (or useful) in certain situations. Some abilities make it easier to move around the map, others allow you to heal companions or attack enemies. By properly matching the composition of the team, we can gain a tactical advantage over other teams. An interesting idea is also the so-called banners that remain after defeated companions. If we collect one of them and reach a certain point on the map, we can "revive" a companion and thus be able to return to the game.

While the structure of the game is familiar - you step onto a large map, pick up randomly scattered loot and fight in an ever-tightening circle to be the last team to survive - it's the 16 playable characters (called Legends) that keeps Apex from feeling like a regular shooter battle royale. Where traditionally you start a battle royale game as a blank card and your role is determined solely by the equipment you equip yourself with, here each character has their own set of special skills and strengths that you can choose to suit your own playstyle.
I especially love how different Legends can work together as a team of three to get more out of these powers than they could on their own. For example, if someone on your team plays as Caustic or Bangalore and throws smoke bombs around them, choosing Bloodhound for its ability to see through smoke and highlight nearby enemies will be a natural choice.
And while some Legends seem to be stronger than others in some situations, I like that it is not always who wins in hand-to-hand combat that will determine your victory. Skills can be used to strengthen your own knowledge of where enemies are with Bloodhound, or to gain an altitude advantage with Horizon. Apex, however, relies more on the player's personal abilities than on the specific moves of the Legend, especially when compared to a heroic shooter like Overwatch, where skill really matters a lot when creating a good squad composition with limited roles to be cast.
Each Legend also has a story based on the same world in Respawn's Titanfall series. The action of Apex takes place 30 years after the events of Titanfall 2 and extends an already fascinating universe with a continuous story that unfolds with each major event. While you won't see much of it during the match, it is well told in comic books and short films that explain how the Apex Games you fight came about, how each of the Legends ended up in them, how they are related and even how they interact outside of the Games. There's a lot of creativity and lore exploration going on here, and considering that the Titanfall games never got their rightful place, it's exciting to see Respawn continue their universe through Apex.
