Well, the first moments in Train Simulator 2022 seem difficult, but surprisingly, the virtual train, compared to virtual planes and trucks from well-known game series, is surprisingly easy and fun to drive. It will certainly be a great advantage for ordinary railway enthusiasts, but also a great disappointment for lovers of full-blooded simulators.
Regardless of whether we drive an old diesel engine, an electric locomotive or a state-of-the-art aerodynamic locomotive, we have been given the basic instruments, including the brake and throttle, of course, which are operated with a really intuitive and comfortable pad. Anyway, it turns out that every layman, after a few moments of training, could drive a steel beast on rails, if not in the real world, at least in the game.
The announcements of the creators of Train Simulator 2022 about ultra-realistic experiences can be put between fairy tales, because although you can really feel some differences in the driving model depending on the locomotive specification, type of cargo or weather conditions, they are not so big to worry about. In Railgrade we watch the action from a bird's eye view. During the game, our task is to develop transport infrastructure for the raw materials extracted on the planet and the goods produced there. The matter is not simple, because in Railgrade, the more developed our colony is, the more complicated the whole network becomes. The most important gameplay variant of Railgrade is the campaign. The creators have prepared over fifty tasks to complete, including side missions. Railgrade provides us with various guidelines, although their common denominator is building railway connections. The point is to create the most efficient connections possible, e.g. decide whether to lay tracks between points A and B, or whether it is better to raise the bar and create a whole circuit that allows more trains to run between different objects.
The missions in Railgrade take us to many places: grassy plains, sun-scorched or icy deserts, etc. Each biome is a different kind of challenge. However, the maps themselves are not overly large. The sooner we implement the guidelines set before us, the better the note we will receive. For completing tasks, we also receive coupons (up to five per one board) that give us access to numerous benefits: building upgrades, music tracks, etc. The game, it is worth adding, has not implemented a micropayment system.
In each of the areas, you can earn up to five coupons - one of the most important currencies in the game - depending on how quickly you complete each objective. One such goal could be to attract a certain number of citizens to a nearby city by delivering goods to them.

Each nation is played a bit differently, because the developers have made every effort to ensure that they have individual strengths and weaknesses, as well as unique units and capabilities. The strength of the Chinese is therefore the use of gunpowder, and its unique feature is the dynastic system, which provides it with interesting bonuses. The Delhi Sultanate focuses on defense and research, can field powerful war elephants, and has scholars under its command, i.e. special units that can speed up research and improve technology. The Mongols, in turn, as a nomadic people, are able to move their bases from place to place, and they also have cavalry units from the very beginning of the game. As for the English - their strong point is primarily the castles and fortresses they build, while the unit that other nations can envy them are special archers, equipped with long bows that allow them to shoot at enemies from a greater distance.
The changes introduced in Age of Empires IV do not end with a greater variety of civilizations than has been the case so far. For example, defensive walls built around cities no longer serve only as obstacles for enemy troops. We can place our units on them, which will take an active part in defending the fortress against the onslaught of enemies. Of course, the attackers are not helpless in this situation and can, for example, make use of siege machines. The graphic design of Age of Empires IV presents a high level of workmanship. The whole thing was kept in a rather unusual style. While the landscapes look very realistic, pleasing the eye with various details, the unit models may seem a bit angular and too colorful; the proportions are also slightly distorted, making our subjects seem too big against the background of the buildings. In this way, however, the authors wanted to allow players to quickly find out about the situation on the map, especially on the battlefield during the hustle and bustle of battle.
