Duelyst A few years ago, a group of friends decided to spend some time creating a cottage-style board game that was a combination of a turn-based strategy and a card game. The idea has evolved, and with boys already outspoken in the video game industry, in spring 2014 Kickstarter welcomed an ambitious new project with open arms. When it turned out that people who had their fingers in Diablo III and Rouge Legacy were responsible for the game, players eagerly reached for their wallets. As a result, the game raised $ 134,000, which was almost twice the required amount. After a year of turmoil and a fundamental change in the concept of the distribution model, the open beta production known as Duelyst saw the light of day.
As already mentioned, Duelyst is a combination of a turn-based strategy and a card game. How does it look in practice? First, we decide on one of the seven heroes representing different factions, then we collect cards that symbolize our minions, spells and artifacts, and then, together with a similarly equipped opponent, we find a chessboard battlefield. This is where the fun begins. Every turn we draw two cards, the activation of which consumes our mana reserves.
Duelyst This, in turn, as in the aforementioned Blizzard production, grows with each played turn. The goal of the game is to eliminate the enemy commander. Each race has about 15 unique units, a similar number of spells and three artifacts that strengthen the selected hero. In combination with a set of neutral cards, this gives a total of slightly over 300 elements from which we can build our deck. What distinguishes Duelyst from other card games is the aforementioned board. This solution gives the gameplay dynamics and means that instead of another production that cuts coupons from the popularity of Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone, we are dealing with a simple, but well-constructed tactical game.
