In Sifu, we observe the action from different perspectives (while moving around the locations, the camera is behind the hero's back, but its position changes when there is a fight - then it shows us the events from different angles, and the shots are characterized by a certain dose of cinematography). Fun in Sifu is about exploring the boards and fighting with the opponents you meet.
The player fights both regular bandits (some of them are equipped with weapons, e.g. knives) and bosses. Skillful fingers and positioning play a key role here - we have to move in such a way as to avoid attacks and maximize damage dealt to enemies by using our surroundings. In Sifu, we sometimes also take over items owned by enemies for a while (we can deal blows and throw them). It is worth noting that in Sifu the boards are partially destructible - blows can, for example, destroy railings or tables.
An intriguing gameplay element in Sifu is the mechanics of character aging. At the beginning of the game, our hero is 20 years old. In his inventory is a magical artifact, powered by life forces, which has the extraordinary power of resurrection. Every time the protagonist dies during combat, we can use an ancient talisman to bring him back to life. However, this comes at a cost. After each return from the afterlife, the hero gets older.
In addition, each subsequent death in Sifu increases the number of years accrued to him after resurrecting (the first time the character will age by a year, the next by two, etc.). We also cannot use this option indefinitely. After reaching a certain age of the hero, final death awaits. Aging a character does not negatively affect his ability to fight with luck. The older the hero is, the more powerful his blows become.
In addition, in the course of the game, Sifu discovers new skills (primarily powerful Pak-Mei Kung Fu techniques). The purchase of further abilities is possible between death and rebirth, as well as between missions or at special shrines. A useful tool is also a detective board, illustrating our progress in the investigation and storing all the information collected. This game has no difficulty levels. The creators wanted each failure to be a valuable lesson for us, and each subsequent hour of the game made it easier for us to understand the combat system used in it. It is possible to complete Sifu without losing a single life, but it requires focus and reflexes.
The combat system seems very simple at first. We have a classic set of weak and strong blows and several sequences of blows connecting them, e.g. cuts and pushes. Plus dodges, parries and blocks. Our hero, like his opponents, apart from health points, also has a posture bar known from Sekiro. By breaking the posture with attacks, we can knock down the enemy and quickly finish him off. Easy? It just seems so. For the first opponents, it is enough to know the basic moves and block properly. However, the level of difficulty increases quickly. Quickly!
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy takes us on a journey to the science fiction universe known from the comic book original. Several years ago, the entire galaxy was shaken by a gigantic war, the effects of which are still felt today. As it turns out, however, her troubles do not end there - as a result of a series of catastrophic events, another interplanetary crisis looms on the horizon.
The upcoming problems in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy can only be dealt with by the title Guardians, led by the main character of the described game - Peter "Star-Lord" Quill. Together with Groot, Gamora, Draks and Rocket, the protagonist goes on a journey during which the whole team will face numerous threats and sometimes get into trouble. The whole is characterized by a powerful charge of humour.
On our way in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, we regularly encounter opponents (including bosses), which we eliminate using elemental pistols and the protagonist's jet boots. In addition, during the clashes, we give orders to the other team members, indicating the targets on which they should use their special attacks. In the heat of battle, we can call a meeting to give a motivating speech to our companions (this requires choosing a dialogue option appropriate to the situation) and put them on their feet and provide them with various reinforcements.
As we progress, we gain experience points and acquire new special skills of both Star-Lord and other team members. In Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, we also get parts to buy various upgrades. In addition, the game often gives us the opportunity to choose dialogue options, which affects the relationships between the characters, and sometimes also determines the course of the plot - although the game has an essentially linear structure and the story tends to one, predetermined ending.
In Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy we follow the fate of the titular Guardians of the Galaxy: Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Groot and Rocket. A team of mercenaries gets involved in an intrigue, as a result of which they must save the world from destruction. In all this, the personal motivations of each of the characters are mixed in, of which the past of Star-Lord himself is the most clearly outlined. Sounds pretty standard, and in fact it is.
The only interesting element of the whole is that the action takes place in a different timeline than the one from the movie universe - Thanos is dead in it. This is a story that could easily be translated into a series script and would not suffer from it. There is no shortage of epic duels, betrayals, space chases and there is even room for moments of emotion and laughter.
Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga includes the stories known from nine full-length films from the Star Wars universe, starting with the fate of Anakin Skywalker during the time of the Old Republic, through Luke Skywalker's clash with the Empire, and ending with Rey's journey. However, it is not a faithful egranization. In accordance with the traditions of games with LEGO in the title, the events are presented with a grain of salt, enriching the plot with a large dose of humor.
The basics of gameplay in Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga do not differ significantly from the scheme developed by previous LEGO Star Wars games. The title is a colorful action adventure game in which we direct characters known from the movie screen. Hundreds of heroes are at our disposal, such as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Obi Wan Kenobi. Although the gameplay formula has remained unchanged, the developers have introduced some modifications and additional attractions. We can freely fly ships (including the iconic Millennium Falcon) in space, as well as land on selected planets in many different places in Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. A big novelty is the combat system. The creators have developed mechanics that allow even the youngest to have fun, and at the same time leave room for more talented players to show off.
Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga collects the plot of all nine numbered episodes of Star Wars for the first time, creating the largest (not only in terms of history) game under this license. Not including full-length spin-offs or series may sadden some, but as the name suggests - this is the Skywalker saga.
The creators of Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, however, did not completely ignore the fans of Baby Yoda, etc., adding a few thematic additions (bonus characters) from The Mandalorian or the movie about young Han Solo. Playing the pre-release version, I complained a bit that after an hour I had practically the entire fourth episode finished (regrouping to Yavin 4 and the attack on the Death Star). Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga consists of a total of 45 story missions that can be easily completed in several hours. This is not a big disadvantage if we want to look into every corner and complete all side activities at a given stage. This approach extends our adventure, but it still does not change the fact that the creators told each film at an express pace and often took shortcuts.
The story presented in The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game is based on the story from the film original. The sinister Lord Garmadon has brought Ninjago City to the brink of disaster. Under the leadership of the wise Wu, a master of eastern martial arts, a group of fearless warriors decides to face him in order to restore the old law and order in the metropolis.
In addition to the above-mentioned hero and main antagonist, the cast of the game is powered by other characters known from the silver screen. Players can play as Lloyd, Kai, Jay, Zane, Nya and Cole. The gameplay in The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game for PC, PS4, etc. does not differ from the scheme developed for the studio's previous games. Once again, we are dealing with a platform action game - in the course of our adventure we travel through various locations within Ninjago City, fight smaller and larger opponents in LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game, using the unique abilities of individual heroes, and solve uncomplicated environmental puzzles.
First of all, in LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game, you can't count on a lofty plot, because it's always based on a simple rule, the bad guys and the good guys. You know, technically speaking, this created story is aimed at a minor audience, so take this into account and don't be outraged by the infantility in LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game. In addition, here the story is an adaptation of the movie based on the popular LEGO sets, so I also advise you to keep that in mind. A typical story of how the good guys have to overcome their weaknesses, fight with themselves to reawaken within themselves the power to stop the evil invader. A bit like Power Rangers only with blocks.
The gameplay in LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game is typical of LEGO games, whoever played other games will probably not find much new here, which does not mean that there are none. Nevertheless, if this is your first adventure with games referring to blocks, then the gameplay is as follows.
In the LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game storyline, we have our Ninja at our disposal, there are six of them in total and each of them has a different element or element. In addition, they wield a specific weapon, once assigned to a particular hero. For example, Cole is the Ninja of the Earth, as befits his skills and weapon, which is a great hammer, he can crush various types of elements made of blocks so that the team can get further. Other heroes work in a similar way, depending on what stage of the game we are at and what set of ninjas we will play with.
In LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, the main villain is Kang the Conqueror, who wreaks havoc through time travel. Superheroes from different eras try to stop him, but it's not an easy task, because the enemy has supervillains to help and every now and then he ends up in a different place. The fun is based on the same ideas that we have seen in other LEGO games created by Traveller's Tales. So it is a three-dimensional platformer with lots of characters with unique abilities.
During the gameplay in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, we direct, among others, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, Thor, Hulk, Doctor Strange, Green Goblin or Black Panther. We fight the enemies we meet and solve simple puzzles using the powers of individual heroes. In pursuit of Kang the Conqueror, we go to e.g. to Ancient Egypt, the Wild West, Planet Hulk and even New York in 2099.
The first Lego Marvel Super Heroes was great, including because, unlike Lego Marvel Avengers, which tried to summarize the six films in a non-chronological sequence, it told a completely new story. It's similar in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, so we have the first plus at the start. The whole action of the new game revolves around the evil actions of Kang, who creates Chronopolis - a land connecting several universes from different eras and dimensions. This is, of course, a great excuse to present over 200 heroes known from Marvel movies and comics, who can go crazy in various scenery.
In LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, it starts inconspicuously, but over time we will visit locations in futuristic New York, the Wild West or medieval England. The variety of the environment is a big advantage of Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2, as is the list of superheroes involved in the new adventures. There are over two hundred Legomen to unlock and we have a huge cross-section of characters here - from obvious choices like Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Thor or Spider-Man taken straight from this year's movies, to such niche heroes as Black Knight, Klaw or Koi Afraid.
As usual, unlocking all the characters in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 involves performing side quests, so lovers of squeezing the last juices must expect long hours spent in front of the screen. In addition, you can also create your own hero from previously acquired bricks, so if you dream of Spider-Man shooting fireballs or other fancy hybrid, you can build it yourself in this game.
The story in LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham, as the title suggests, will take us from the streets of Gotham City to completely new and unexplored regions of the fictional DC universe. We will go into outer space to visit many fantastic and alien planets. The plot focuses on the efforts of the Justice League, which together with Batman, as well as many famous supervillains, will try to prevent a crisis threatening Earth.
Brainiac, Superman's nemesis, has shrunk our planet using power rings stolen from the Green Lanterns and added it to his bizarre collection of trophies. In LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham, a heroic team of over 150 playable characters must embark on an interstellar journey to recover the rings and defeat Brainiac. The authors recreated many iconic locations from comic books.
We will visit the headquarters of the Justice League and numerous alien worlds from the DC universe. As in many other LEGO games, all character dialogues are dubbed, in part also by actors known from animated TV series.
In LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham, the gameplay is not very different from the solutions known from LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. Fans of the series will quickly find themselves in the three-dimensional game world, presented from the perspective of a third person. During the game, we still use a simple combat system, and in selected places we build structures made of blocks. All kinds of hidden bonuses and surprises are also back, allowing you to unlock new characters.
This does not mean that the creators have not prepared any new products. The list of available equipment and gadgets has been significantly expanded. Depending on the selected character, we can use, for example, many different suits or skills. Batman will use his specialized costumes, for example, and Cyborg will be able to change size or use gadgets to remain unnoticed by opponents. The hacker mini-games are also a novelty, offering various tasks, including overcoming mazes, races, fighting in arenas, etc.
Since while playing LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham we will find ourselves in space, there were also levels in open space and weightlessness, including those in which we will sit at the helm of a star fighter.
LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham does not change the formula of the series, although it adds some new elements here and there. During the game, we visit worlds based on locations known from comic books. Our task is mainly to fight against enemies, explore, solve simple puzzles and build with blocks as befits a Lego game. The fun is diversified by mini-games that can consist in hacking systems, exploring mazes, chasing or shooting in the style of shmups. Due to the setting, there are also levels that take place in weightlessness
In It Takes Two, Rose's parents, Cody and May, are planning a divorce. The girl experiences it very much and to relieve her grief, she creates two dolls - one made of clay, the other made of wood - to represent her mother and father. Under mysterious circumstances, the parents' minds are transferred to the bodies of Rose's dolls. The miniaturized heroes wake up in their own home, which shows them a previously unknown, fairy-tale face.
A quarreling married couple begins to search for a way to return to their proper bodies in It Takes Two. Dr. Hakim, an eccentric magical book specializing in saving relationships, is trying to help them. But Cody and May refuse to accept that they won't be human again until they get along. Despite this, they set off together on a journey through the known-unknown world, where only together they are able to overcome numerous adversities.
The central element of It Takes Two is cooperation, requiring two players to deal with both arcade and logical challenges. The players, playing the roles of Cody and May, travel together through picturesque and often surreal locations, helping each other overcome obstacles.
It Takes Two contains very diverse challenges: co-players must, among other things, avoid traps, annihilate opponents (including bosses) or solve puzzles. They can also compete in optional mini-games that act as "collectibles". Diversity also characterizes the visited locations. Cody and May find themselves in a garden, for example, where they travel among lush vegetation on the backs of hairy spiders or jumping frogs. Other times, they land inside a snow globe, where they skate across the ice, jumping over chasms, and solve puzzles using magnets.
They also visit It Takes Two, e.g. toy space and a shed infested with rogue tools. At each stage, characters use different gadgets or abilities to help them deal with puzzles and opponents. The three-dimensional world of It Takes Two has been maintained in pleasant, vivid colors. Character creations, as well as the locations presented in the game, are shown in a simplified style, reminiscent of movies or animated series.
These are the only passages where you can lose a lot of progress if both players lose all their health points. It's very nice that these fights are varied both visually and in terms of mechanics. The creators of It Takes Two do not use hackneyed motifs more than once, and each clash, whether with a dropped vacuum cleaner or the wasp queen, is unique and memorable.
We also gain new special abilities every chapter - in the levels that end with a clash with the toolbox, Cody hammers the nails and May uses the hammer to swing on them, while later in the game we get the ability to manipulate time and ... you'll see for yourself. Certainly, you can't complain about boredom or the repetition of scenography and puzzles.
Valley is an exploration-oriented first-person action-adventure game with sci-fi elements. The game was developed by independent Canadian studio Blue Isle Games, best known for their game Slender: The Arrival, a collaboration with original creator Mark Hadley, a sequel to the free hit Slender: The Eight Sides. The game's plot leads us to the title, the mysterious valley hidden somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. As we play, we take on the role of an undefined hero who uses the latest technology in the form of an exoskeleton called L.E.A.F. (Jump effortlessly through the air functionality) he traverses a number of different locations - from picturesque forests to dangerous ruins - and tries to discover the secret of this extraordinary place.
Valley is a first-person exploration game that - unlike most of the more static representatives of the genre - is characterized by a lot of dynamics in the game thanks to the aforementioned L.E.A.F. exoskeleton. Thanks to her, for example, we can move faster and jump higher and reach places inaccessible to an ordinary person. We will also use the possibilities of the equipment in the fight against enemy creatures living in the valley. As we progress through the game, we will gradually unlock new features of the exoskeleton, the most important of which is the control over life and death, allowing you to give or take life to any living organism that you encounter during the game. However, this power comes at a high price. Every time the character we control dies, the valley of the title gradually dies. Therefore, not only the unraveling of the mystery of this place depends on our survival skills, but also its appearance and the fate of the organisms inhabiting it. Let's start with the plot. tells the story of a researcher who embarks on a lonely journey to find an artifact called the "Seed of Life". This relic is said to end the war that is consuming the entire world. After reaching the location, the hero accidentally lands in the title valley. This is where it gets interesting. We quickly come across an exoskeleton called L.E.A.F., which allows the protagonist to run much faster and jump higher than an ordinary mortal. This isn't the end of his additional abilities, but more on that when we discuss the game.
Unravel Two is a platformer developed for PC, PS4 and XONE enriched with logical elements. The game was developed by Coldwood Interactive Studio, the same studio responsible for the first part of 2016. In Unravel Two we again succeed in creating a nice mascot, woven entirely from thick red yarn. This time she is not tackling the adventure alone - she is accompanied by a friend, also made of blue yarn. During the game, the heroes travel through locations inspired by real-world locations from Scandinavian countries, including villages, forests and coastlines almost untouched by human presence. The game has a very economic story. Instead of an extensive scenario and sudden plot twists, we get a simple story about a journey and heroes who have to rely on each other to cope with adversity.
Mechanically, Unravel Two, released for PC, PS4 and XONE, is a classic 2.5D platformer. This means that although the graphics are three-dimensional, the gameplay itself takes place in two dimensions. Typically, skill challenges are diversified by logical elements that require you to find a way, e.g. to remove an obstacle from our path. The fact that the characters are made of yarn adds significantly to the fun of the game. The heroes can unwind part of a string and use it like a rope to swing or drag some items behind them. All of this is governed by an extensive physics engine. Compared to the first part, the biggest change is the addition of a second character. To be successful, both men must work closely together - e.g. holding the end of the twine for a companion to climb on. The game allows for cooperative play in pairs, but we can also play alone - switch between heroes anywhere, and if we don't need the help of a companion, we can just piggyback it and just control a stick figure.
The Sims 4 Island Living is a major expansion for the incredibly popular and unique living sim The Sims 4, released in 2014. As usual, the developer of the add-on announced at E3 2019 is the American company Electronic Arts. The Sims 4: Island Living allows our Sims to live on the sunny island of Sulani, which features several new building lots, locations, and tons of unique activities. The creators of the game were inspired by the culture of Polynesia, which is reflected in the architecture, nature and customs of this tropical paradise. Our students will enjoy the benefits of sandy beaches and clean ocean. Sims can not only lazily sunbathe on the beach or build sand castles, but also play with dolphins, fish, swim and dive or race forward on a jet ski. In their free time, they get to know the local culture and the friendly locals by participating in traditional festivals and barbecues, or sharing a cup of a local drink called kava.
When our Sims run out of money, they can try to earn a living as a fisherman, lifeguard, or swimming instructor. The authors also prepared a new career as an ecologist, dealing with the protection of the flora and fauna of Sulani and cleaning beaches and forests from the garbage of tourists. The expansion also includes new tropical outfits, clothing accessories and hairstyles. Thanks to new building materials and furniture, we will build a colorful island villa with direct access to the sea. A big attraction is also the opportunity to create a Sima mermaid with magical abilities. For example, in the editor we choose the shape of the fins and the color of the scales. The Sims 4 Island Living is another addition to the fourth Sims. This time the team of Maxis and EA take the player to a tropical island. Maxis develops The Sims 4 quietly and from time to time releases smaller content packs that are linked to larger expansions. EA Play announced that The Sims 4 Island Living will be available for PC in June. Of course, the expansion will also come to consoles, but at a later date.
The Sims 4 Discover University is an add-on to the best-selling simulation game The Sims 4 of 2013. Both productions were developed by EA Maxis Studio, which also has titles like the Spore SimCity series and the previous three parts of The Sims series. series features. The authors have prepared a classically realized supplement. The production does not introduce revolutionary changes and focuses on expanding the content of The Sims 4. Thanks to The Discover University, our Sims will start their education at the ancient University of Britechester or at a modern university known as Foxbury Institute. Characters can participate in classes, including pedagogy, engineering, computer science, biology, and law. There's even a course for the villains.
Our Sims will not be forced to attend class, but it will affect their academic performance. Between classes, Sims go to accommodation on campus, spend time in the library and common recreation areas, or explore the city of Britechester by bike. There is also the opportunity to support university teams in sporting competitions and to take part in timpani exercises together with other students. We also spend our free time playing table tennis with friends and partying with roommates or visiting university clubs. The Sims 4: Discover University also lets you set up the Sims' rooms into dorms, which is backed up by a solid lineup of new items. There were also extra clothes. I don't have official age stats for a typical Sims fan, but I suspect most fans of virtual life either look forward to their own college party life or remember it with nostalgia. The Last of Us Part II is an action-adventure game that is a sequel to the 2013 hit. The title takes us to a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a deadly epidemic and where survival will require many victims. The production was developed by the well-known studio Naughty Dog Uncharted and Jak and Daxter series, among others. The game continues the threads started in the first part - its plot begins five years later at the Jackson Animal Shelter in Wyoming. During the game we will visit, among other things, Jackson known from the first part and the ruins of Seattle. This time the game has two main characters - Ellie, the girl who assisted the player in The Last of Us, and Abby, a new character from the WLF faction. However, on screen we will also see Joel, the protagonist of "One", and many new characters belonging to two rival factions - WLF and Scars. The leitmotif of the story is the question "How far would you go to be fair to people who harm those you love?"
Mechanically, The Last of Us Part 2 develops the ideas from the first part. So again we get an action-adventure game in which the camera is placed behind the character's back (we control a lonely heroine, although she is sometimes assisted by companions controlled by artificial intelligence). During the game, the player traverses maps with a partially open structure and eliminates enemies. Ellie has also learned to swim and dive - many secrets are hidden behind flooded passageways and we often get wet. There is no shortage of brutal direct confrontations throughout the game, but we also often have to focus on a stealthy approach. In clashes we use both melee and firearms, but the latter is hampered by the small amount of ammo found during exploration. However, dealing wounds has a greater impact on enemies' abilities than in The Last of Us (e.g. by shooting in the leg we can make it difficult for the opponent to move). As the game progresses we can also develop the skills of the protagonist. We have five development trees available that will be unlocked as the game progresses. We are developing shooting accuracy, reloading speed, among other things, but also the ability to craft more items with fewer materials. Abby's gameplay is different from Ellie's. Abby is more physically agile, has different weapons, and can develop different abilities.
The Bug Butcher Rooted in the realities of sci-fi dimensional shooting from Austrian studio Awfully Nice.
