There is a plot in the series, but it simply doesn't matter much. In the five, Earth is once again under attack by giant worms and alien life forms. We, as a member of the elite branch of the Earth Defense Force (although we start as a beginner bodyguard), face ants, wasps, frogs, spiders, flying drones, to huge robots inspired by the War of the Worlds and stereotyped aliens.
Earth Defense Force 5 It's not that the storyline in EDF5 doesn't exist at all. However, it is difficult to take her seriously, since she treats herself as a gigantic pastiche of pop culture's view of the invasion of alien life forms. Earth Defense Force is the game equivalent of the self-aware Z movies. And this is a huge advantage of this game. The whole thing has been divided into 110 missions in which we have short introductions and after them we can completely forget what we have just been told. The goal counts - to destroy all worms / aliens in a given mission. Only and so much. The game gets started slowly and you do not rush to raise the difficulty level, initially giving us a choice between three of them, and after completing the whole game, we get an additional two, which is impossible to approach without fancy equipment.
Earth Defense Force 5 We usually carry out missions together with groups of AI-led units accompanying us. These work well as cannon fodder, distracting enemies from us, although they try to simulate the behavior of a live player, and we can take care of them by picking up medkits everywhere. These fall out again, along with special packages of weapons and armor from defeated enemies. The more difficult the opponent, the more loot, and the higher the difficulty level, the better things fly. Armor boxes have an impact on our health, and the weapons we get can then be used during the mission. What we get is random, and the doubles of a given weapon raise its level, and thus - statistics. And here I would like to point out right away that in the normal course of the game, you do not need to play the inventory farm, because what we get on a regular basis throughout practically the entire game is sufficient.
